About Cruel Culture

Cruel Culture is the alias of Fabian Simoneit, a producer and DJ based near Munich, Germany. Classically trained in piano and drums, he transitioned early into hip-hop and electronic music, drawn by its boundless creative potential. Since the mid-1990s, he has been crafting immersive soundscapes—entirely self-taught and stylistically versatile—ranging from deep, minimal drum’n’bass and ambient textures to cinematic trip-hop and industrial dubstep.

Since his debut in 2006, Cruel Culture has released music on respected labels such as Dispatch, Citrus, Shadybrain, Mindtech, Urban Poetry, Plasma Audio, and others. Collaborations with artists like Keosz, Survey, Polarity, Kit Curse, and Acid Lab have further expanded his sonic universe.

In addition to his solo work, he is the producer and one half of the hip-hop duo Kollision.

For over 15 years, Cruel Culture has also been a driving force in Munich’s underground scene as co-organizer of Break It Down – Munich, helping to shape and sustain the local drum’n’bass movement.
